Research // PROTO* Lab
Investigating a taxonomy for digital fabrication prototypes in primary school makerspaces
Using data collected from Danish primary schools, I assisted with proposing a preliminary taxonomy for how makerspaces are used to teach about digital fabrication, i.e., 3D printing, laser cutting, etc. The results pointed towards sequential learning: first the students learn about the elements to digital fabrication, then they apply digital fabrication to other learning situations. Though too preliminary for publication, the results have proved beneficial to the schools involved.
Master’s Thesis // Climatorium
Barriers and affordances of web 2.0 knowledge sharing platforms in interorganisational contexts sharing
From the basis of qualitative interviews conducted across organisations, my thesis investigated the barriers and affordances of web 2.0 platforms within quadruple helix networks. With perspectives from interorganisational knowledge sharing, collaborative processes, and digital communication, I concluded that the potential affordance of a web 2.0 platform could counteract its barriers.
Social Media // Aarhus University
Doubling LinkedIn audience with collaborative and graphics-driven content
Starting with a little over 600 followers, the LinkedIn page for AU Herning grew to over 1200 during my time at the communications team. A central part of the strategy was creating campaigns around real world events, where we partnered with industry stakeholders. E.g., I created an identity around the department’s TBMI Challenge, with a full visual identity, so we could easily collaborate with the participating companies. This allowed us to tap into those companies’ followers every time we or they made a post.
Internal Comms. // Aarhus University
Assessing technology for internal communications
During my time at Aarhus University, I spearheaded a project for the communications team, to assess the technology possibilities and value in different info screen solutions, as well as establishing a pipeline for content on the final result. I made it a priority, that the students should also receive value (aside from the university-backed content), which is why they are able to connect to the screen during social events.
Master’s report // Grundfos
Virtual reality as a radical evolution in communication
With interviews of multiple internal and international stakeholders as a data foundation, my study group investigated the road to acceptance and adoption of virtual reality as a digital communication medium. We concluded that a deep understanding of internal stakeholders’ perspectives on radical new technology, was paramount to influencing acceptance and adoption.
Master’s report // USK
Picking a central IT/ERP system for a Danish youth school
Using qualitative interviews and observations (collected by me) my study group analysed three IT/ERP systems against the needs of a Danish youth school. Using the perspectives of activity systems and work system framework, we concluded that one of the systems carried significantly more positive affordances than the other two.
My Approach
Central to my methodology is empathy. Wether it is creating communication strategies or content that resonate with people, or creating a match between IT and the people who needs to use it, my motto is “human-centered”.
It is both the starting point for my work and what I measure success against.
Empathise
The first step in my work is empathising with two groups of people. To crate the most value, I will gauge the needs of my employer and of my target audience, so I can maximise value for both groups.
Ideate
By understanding the people, I understand the problem, after which I can ideate and develop a solution. Creativity and collaboration are everything when moving from problem definition to problem solution.
Deliver
Even when delivering (product, content, solutions, etc.), I don’t stop ideating and trying to better my output. I monitor reception of what I put into the world, and I take the results with me in the short and long term.
